“Creative” agreement reached with Liggett

Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino held court in his parking lot for an hour or so Thursday as attorneys for Brownsville Borough and property owner Ernest Liggett of Churchill hashed out an agreement in his courtroom. In the end an agreement that borough solicitor Melinda Dellarose called “creative” was reached. Citations on properties that are under the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority’s declaration of taking in an eminent domain case were continued for a month. Liggett agreed to plead guilty to 14 other violations at six properties, paying fines of $500 per citation.
