Police search for man
State police said they are working in conjunction with Uniontown police to try and find a Uniontown man accused of trying to hit a state police trooper with a car during a traffic stop last month. Sean Warren Middleton, 21, of Apartment 1, 512 E. Main St., is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, escape, fleeing or eluding police, false identification and citations for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
Police said Middleton was a passenger in a car that was pulled over after running a stop sign on Hopwood-Fairchance Road in South Union Township around 2:20 a.m. May 14.
Police said that the driver, identified as Theresa Dugan, 21, of Uniontown, was discovered to have a suspended driver’s license. Police said they then asked for the passenger’s name. Police said that Middleton gave police a false name and date of birth.
Then, police said, Dugan “stepped out of the vehicle and asked to be taken home because she did not want a confrontation with the defendant’s girlfriend.”
When she got out of the car, police alleged Middleton got into the driver’s seat. One of the troopers then ran to the front of the car but had to dive out of harm’s way as Middletown accelerated toward him. Police chased the car for about one-quarter mile before Middleton abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, officers said.
Anyone with information regarding Middleton’s whereabouts are asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
