Probe continues in woman’s death

By Josh Krysak 1 min read

Officials from the Fayette County Coroner’s office said it will be several weeks before they can officially determine what caused the death of an elderly woman who died when her car veered off of Belmont Circle in Uniontown Wednesday. However, Deputy Coroner Jessie Langer said that Georgette Duffield, 75, of Uniontown did not have any signs of trauma from the crash itself and likely suffered some type of medical problem that caused the accident.

Langer said that the coroner’s office will wait for toxicology test results and other information before making a determination regarding the cause and manner of death. She said it could be several weeks before toxicology test results are finalized.

City police Patrolman Thomas Kolencik said Duffield was pronounced dead at Uniontown Hospital following the crash Wednesday afternoon.

Kolencik said the accident occurred at 4:48 p.m. when Duffield turned off Derrick Avenue onto Belmont Circle and lost control of her car. Kolencik said the car traveled through several lawns before crashing into a tree.
