Basket giveaway
Masontown news The Friends of the German-Masontown Library are holding a basket giveaway at the library. Tickets are 25 cents each or five for $1. An adult basket and a child’s basket will be featured. Tickets will be sold during June and a drawing for each basket will be held on June 30.
Cash bash/bingo
The Smithfield and the Masontown volunteer fire departments are holding a joint bingo and cash bash fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department. Tickets cost $40 and include two bingo packages.

Community Kitchen meal
The next Masontown Community Kitchen meal will be held on Tuesday. The menu will be the chefs’ homemade ham, potato and bean soup with Panera breads and desserts. Meals are served between 4 and 7 p.m. every other Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave.
The soup kitchen is operated by volunteers from the area and nearly every church of every denomination in the surrounding locale.
The staff reminds you to invite someone to attend who you may know is in need of a meal and the social and spiritual fellowship and hospitality found there.
The Community Kitchen meals are free to anyone in need but donations are gratefully welcomed and accepted.

Pure Gold concert
Tickets are still available for an oldies concert featuring Pure Gold at the German-Masontown Park. Tickets may be purchased by calling George at 724-583-9581. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Stereotype will be the opening show. The concert will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 19.
Clown and magic show
Magician Faron Buskol will perform a family oriented magic show at the German-Masontown Library from 11 a.m. to noon June 19.
This show is unique, fun and educational. It is designed to encourage reading. After the magic show, Giggles the Clown will be teaching children age 4 and older how to make a balloon animal. Balloon animals will be given to the children. Sign up children at the library since there is limited seating.
There is no charge, but monetary donations will be accepted.
