Bottoms up

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

Here are some grades from the American Society of Civil Engineers’ “2010 Report Card for Pennsylvania Infrastructure.” Dams and levees, C-minus; drinking water, D-plus; navigable waterways, D-plus; parks and recreation, B-minus; freight rail, B; schools, B-minus; solid waste, B-minus; storm water, D-minus; and wastewater, D-plus.

Two areas should concern you – drinking water and wastewater.

The former reflects the quality of the water we drink and the latter reflects the job we do of cleaning up the wastewater we dump into our rivers and streams, from which many of us draw our drinking water.

Bottoms up.
