Local anglers finish 3rd at national event

By The 1 min read

Richard Fike of Farmington and Ryan Reiger of Elizabeth finished third in the Cabela’s National Team Walleye Championship on Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, Wis. They are members of the Yough Walleye Association, which is based in Uniontown. Several pairs of local anglers made the trek to Wisconsin for the annual tournament.

Fike and his brother, Mark, won the Cabela’s Championship in 2006.

This year Fike and Reiger caught two 5-walleye limits Saturday and Sunday, weighing 25.22 pounds to trail the champions who had a bag of 26.24 pounds by 1.02 pounds.

The duo was also entered in the Masters Walleye Team Championship, which was contested concurrently with the Cabela’s event.

They finished eighth in that event, where the winning team weighed-in 10 walleye that tipped the scale at 28.63 pounds.
