Smithfield man charged with raping teen runaway

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

A Smithfield man is behind bars after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl that had been reported missing by her family, police said. Trooper Heather L. Clem said Larry Hoskins Carr Jr., 40, of 122 Main St. was charged Wednesday night before Magisterial District Judge Wendy D. Dennis with rape, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and false imprisonment.

Clem said the girl had been reported missing by her mother to Uniontown police at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to Clem, the girl admitted to police that she ran away from home Sunday and that while she was walking Carr drove up to her in a pickup truck and forced her inside.
