Brashear to perform at church
Allison Christian Church, East Street, will host a community service and concert featuring singing artist Michael Brashear of Tennessee at 9 a.m. on Sunday. According to a profile provided by Allison Christian Church, Brashear’s style ranges from Southern gospel to inspirational to praise and worship, including old and new songs.
He began his career at age 10, singing with the Brashear Family. During the 14 years he was with his family, he performed in 45 states and three countries. Brashear received a degree in music and video business from the Art Institute of Dallas. While in college, he began his solo ministry in 1990. He is a singer, songwriter and producer.
Brashear maintains a balance between singing and his family.
“Michael is actively involved in his children’s lives, coaching their games, helping with homework and just being there as a husband and father,” the profiled explained.
Brashear is involved in the ministry of his church, College Heights Baptist Church in Gallatin, Tenn.
His grandfather, the Rev. Thomas Brashear, will a full-time evangelist for more than 25 years.
Brashear said, “If there is one thing I learned from him, it was that I can always stand on the Bible for its truth.”
He has many influences on his musical career, including Jerrel Brashear, Larry Gatlin, Gary Morris, The Oak Ridge Boys, Chicago, Celine Dion and Michael Bolton.
A luncheon will be served after the concert.
