Cardale man waives armed robbery charges

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

A Cardale man accused of robbing a Redstone Township convenience store at gunpoint waived all charges against him to court this morning. State police said Benjamin H. Richards, 29, was charged last month before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham with two counts of robbery and one count each of recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and simple assault.

Richards was also cited for disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.

Police said the charges were filed after Richards robbed Buzzy’s Mini Mart at 7:18 p.m. May 15.

During a preliminary hearing today before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., Richards waived the charges against him to Fayette County Court.

The citations filed against Richards were withdrawn.
