Boater found safe

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

DAWSON – A search was launched along the Youghiogheny River Saturday evening when a man on a float trip failed to show up at a pre-arranged meeting place. According to Fayette County 911, Travis Pritts, 29, no address listed, was dropped off around 5:30 p.m. in Connellsville with his boat, reported to be either a blue kayak or raft. He was to meet relatives at the take-out in Adelaide, but when he hadn’t shown up after more than two and a half hours, his relatives became concerned and called 911.

Searchers from the Morrell and Dawson volunteer fire departments assisted state police by searching along the shore and in the water, with the Morrell department deploying both a V-hulled boat and an airboat. Pritts was found safe in the Dawson area around 8:53 p.m., 35 minutes after the first call to 911.
