Flenniken Library offers activities
The Summer Reading Programs “Make a Splash! Read @ Your Library” for toddlers through fifth-graders and “Make Waves @ Your Library” for teens will begin regular sessions the week of June 28 at the Flenniken Library in Carmichaels. Registration is open to all ages.
There are programs for all ages, from story hours for toddlers to movie making for teens.

Special events for the program include:
n “Tiny Tim Tomato Project” 10:30 a.m., Tuesday. The Master Gardeners will teach the children to plant a tomato and care for it.
Pre-registration is encouraged.
n “More Songs about Water” 6 p.m., Wednesday with entertainer Bill Pate. It’ll be fun for the whole family, according to the library.
n “Creek Critters” 6 p.m., June 30.
Learn about the creatures that live in our creeks, streams, and rivers with REEC (Regional Environmental Education Center). This program will be outdoors, weather permitting.
n “Pool Party” at Wana-B Park pool and waterslide 7 to 9 p.m., July 14. Preregistration is required. This event is open to the first 100 people who sign up.
n “Laurel Highlands River Tour Bus Trip” to Ohiopyle State Park July 27 for “Make Waves @ Your Library” (teen program only).
Participants must fulfill a reading requirement to qualify. Space is limited.
n “Idlewild Park Bus Trip” Aug. 3 for “Make a Splash! Read @ Your Library” participants and their families.
Everyone who goes on the trip will fulfill a reading requirement. Space is limited.
Major funding for this summer’s youth programs is provided by a grant from the William V. and Catherine A. McKinney Charitable Foundation, with additional support from the Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club and individual donors.
