0005887991-01-1.jpg Genevieve Teasdale Matta, 91 years, of Washington, Pennsylvania died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at home with hospice services. Mrs. Matta was the daughter of Bertram Teasdale and Leah
Blanche Pursglove Teasdale.
She was born in Brownsville,
Pennsylvania on July 29, 1918
Her career began as a Society Editor for the home town newspaper.
Genevieve also was a Radio Personality for a program called “Time Out For Ladies” in the 1940’s.
She continued her career with the Fayette County Unit of American Cancer Society in 1949. Mrs Matta became the Head Administrator in 1960.
Under her direction for 25 years the organization topped all previous records for Citations, Educational Programs and Donations.
In 1940 Mrs. Matta married Robert V. Matta. He preceded her in death in December 1997
She was also preceded in death by her Parents; Sister, Theda Teasdale Vorhes; and Brother, Bertram Teasdale.
She is survived by a Son, Robert Matta and wife Karen, Louisville, Kentucky, and one Daughter, Jenny Kucherawy and her husband David with whom she made her home in Washington, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Matta has seven Grand children: Rita Bumpas, Brooke M. Bandi, Angela Duvall, Chris Matta, Josh Matta, Tim Matta and Laura Matta.
She also has six Great Grandchildren; and one Sister-in-Law, Mildred Teasdale of Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
Funeral arrangements will be private for the Family.
