George McCune

George McCune, age 85, of Grindstone, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010, after a long illness. He was born on July 31, 1924, in Braznell, PA., son of the late George and Elizabeth Branigan McCune.

He was a Roman Catholic Christian man who loved the Lord. He served his country honorably as a Navy serviceman during World War II. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 of Uniontown, PA. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers Union Local 1248, having served at the Maple Creek mine, and a former school bus driver for Redstone Township. He loved woodworking and home cooked meals.

Mr. McCune will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Clara June Mitchell McCune; sister, Dorothy Marcolini and sister-in-law, Hazel McCune.

He will be loved and missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Carrie Jones and Sarah Addis, brothers, Willard McCune and John McCune.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, PA on Wednesday from 2-8 PM, where a blessing service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti officiating.

Interment will be held in the LaFayette Memorial Park with full military rites accorded by VFW Post 47.
