Man suffers minor injuries in fall from bridge
LUZERNE TWP. – An unidentified construction worker suffered minor injuries when he fell from a bridge deck he was working on in Luzerne Township this afternoon. Scott Dolan, chief of Hiller Volunteer Fire Department, said the man escaped serious injuries because he was following proper safety procedures as he worked on the Mon-Fayette Expressway.
“He was tethered and was following safety guidelines,” Dolan said.
The man fell about 14 feet before the ropes he was tied to stopped his fall, officials said.
The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment with injuries Dolan described as minor.
He works for Walsh Corporation, one of many contractors working on the expressway project in Fayette and Washington counties.
Emergency personnel from Hiller Ambulance and Fayette EMS joined volunteer firefighters from Hiller at the scene.
