Uniontown man faces trial for allegedly assaulting girlfriend
All charges against a Uniontown man accused of assaulting his girlfriend last month were held for court last week. Uniontown police said Kaz McClain, 39, of 38 Dunlap St. was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and making terroristic threats as a result of the incident.
Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros held all charges against McClain for Fayette County Court following a preliminary hearing last week.
Uniontown police Officer Jason Fidazzo said that the charges were filed after Rhonda Duritsky, 29, of Uniontown told police that McClain assaulted her after waking her up around 5:30 a.m. May 29.
According to Fidazzo, Duritsky told police she was sleeping in bed when McClain woke her up by grabbing her by the hair and pulling her into a hallway.
Duritsky told police she stood up and McClain then punched her in the head before throwing her against a wall in the bedroom.
Fidazzo said Duritsky reported her two daughters, ages 6 and 8, came into the room and were crying and screaming.
Duritsky told police that she tried to get away from McClain but that he grabbed her again and threw her down the steps, knocking her unconscious, Fidazzo said.
Police said Duritsky reported her daughters were standing over her when she came to and that she then grabbed her children and ran out of the front door, yelling that she was calling police.
McClain allegedly threw Duritsky’s belongings out of the door and told her that he would “kill her or have her beat down” if she called police, Fidazzo said.
Fidazzo said Duritsky later sought treatment at Uniontown Hospital for injuries, including a hip strain, back/shoulder sprains and facial contusions.
McClain remains free after posting $5,000 straight cash bond.
