Sredzinski celebrates radio program’s 10th anniversary
The Rev. Joseph L. Sredzinski is observing the 10th anniversary of his radio program “That You May Believe” over WMBS 590 AM of Uniontown. The program began in June 2000 while Sredzinski was serving as pastor of St. Hubert Roman Catholic Church in Point Marion. Radio staff member Ron Dawson of WMBS approached Sredzinski about taking over the 15-minute religious weekly program. The first program aired on June 15, 2000. The format airs Sundays at 6:05 p.m., and includes an opening hymn, greeting, reading of the Sunday Gospel, a prepared message, announcements, special prayers and a closing hymn. During Advent and Lent, the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Hoppe has assisted with talks on spiritual development appropriate to the season.
Sredzinski has been a guest on “Let’s Talk,” hosted by Bob Foltz on WMBS and addressed such issues as Lent, the priest abuse issue, “The DaVinci Code” and the pro-life cause with the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.
Sredzinski, a Fayette County native, also makes use of the radio air with special segments for “Polish Melodies” with Christmas in Polish style and explanations with music for Easter and Polish Heritage Month.
Sredzinski said he hopes he has sustained others in faith and uplifted those who listen with convictions and a deeper appreciation of his rich Polish heritage.
