Patsy Costa, age 89, of Point Marion, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. Born in Mount Sterling, Pennsylvania on December 11, 1920 he was the son of Joseph Costa and Stella Sorace Costa.

Patsy served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Before retiring, Patsy was employed by Consolidation Coal Company’s Humphrey No. 7 Mine, Maidsville, West Virginia.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 1058 and the American Legion Post 499 in Point Marion, Pa. He was an active member of the Point Marion Fire Dept. and was a member of the Fayette County Fireman’s Association and a member of Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs.

He was a member of Saint Hubert Church, Point Marion, where he served as an Usher for many years.

Patsy was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Louis Costa and sister, Sue Horun.

Left to cherish his memory are: his beloved wife of 63 years, Helen (Pericho) Costa; children: Carol Riley and husband Roger of Mechanicsville, Virginia, John Costa and wife Rosemary of Point Marion, Pennsylvania, Michael “Mike” Costa and his wife Virginia “Jenny” of Point Marion; grandchildren: Kevin Costa and his fiancee Sondra Miller of Smithfield, Pennsylvania, Justin Costa of Point Marion, Katherine Keely, South Riding Virginia, Lisa Timmerman of Mechanicsville, Virginia; great granddaughter, Mackenzie; brother, Angelo Costa and wife Mary of Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the LOUIS E. RUDOLPH FUNERAL HOME, Thomas B. Rudolph, Supervisor, 15 Main Street, Point Marion, Pa. today (Monday) from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, June 30, 2010 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Hubert Church, Point Marion, with the Rev. Father Andrew M. Kawecki as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, where Military Rites will be accorded by the Point Marion Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the American Legion Post.

Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.

Point Marion Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion will hold Ritualistic Services in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Point Marion Volunteer Fire Department or to Saint Hubert Church, 9 Sadler Street, both Point Marion, PA 15474.
