By The 1 min read

An elderly Uniontown woman remains in critical condition in a Pittsburgh hospital after a vehicle struck her Sunday afternoon in Uniontown. Uniontown police Officer David J. Rutter said the incident occurred at 12:35 p.m. in the parking lot of Walgreens pharmacy on West Main Street.

He said that Katherine Belfer, 82, was pushing a shopping cart between two vehicles when a sport utility vehicle driven by Peter Kumor III of Uniontown backed from a parking space and struck Belfer, knocking her to the ground and toppling the shopping cart.

Rutter said that when Belfer fell she struck her head on the pavement.

Belfer was initially taken to Uniontown Hospital before being flown by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital for treatment.

Rutter said the incident remains under investigation.
