By By Zach Petroff

A Maryland man is in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond for allegedly fleeing from state police who tried to pull him over in Uniontown. A trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop on Roger Strawser, 58, of Oakland on Saturday after he allegedly swerved into the opposing lane on South Gallatin Avenue just before 8 p.m. According to court paperwork, Strawser sped up, driving 64 mph in a 35 mph in a residential area of North Gallatin Avenue. Police tried unsuccessfully to use spike strips to stop Strawser near Bethelboro Road, but were able to use a precision immobilization technique (PIT) to stop the vehicle on Morgan Station Road. A PIT maneuver typically entails an officer using ...

That’s one of the takeaways a panel of experts on U.S. politics offered Tuesday night at a forum on the election that just ended at the California campus of PennWest University. Given the chronically low approval ratings President Biden has had for much of his term, it would have been a marked departure from America’s typical voting behavior if Biden’s vice president, ...
