Mountain Citizen group The Mountain Citizen Action Group seniors traveled by bus to Greensburg, where they stopped at Joann Fabrics, Westmoreland Mall and the Olive Garden.

The seniors were sad to learn that Maxine Anderson’s precious cat had been shot.

A reward is being offered for information pertaining to the incident. Call Maxine at 724-329-4858 or Marla at 724-329-1153.

November birthdays to be celebrated at the center include the following: Jessie Firestone, Nov. 5; Donna Smith, Nov. 5; Sylvia Butler, Nov. 18; and Julie Wilbon, Nov. 24.

Bingo is held at the Mountain Citizen Action Group Fridays with early birds at 6:30 p.m. and regular bingo at 7 p.m. Kitchen will be open at 6 p.m.

Seniors food bank is held the first Thursday of each month for those who qualify.

Marclay School

The Marclay School PTO meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday. Patron’s Day will be held Wednesday. Ed Fearer is the principal.

Markleysburg VFD

Markleysburg Volunteer Fire Department will hold it annual fund-raising Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 20 beginning at 4 p.m. The complete holiday meal is always well attended.

The fire department continues to hold bingo Thursdays, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with early bird games followed by regular games.

Birthdays

The Rev. Shirley Norman will celebrate her birthday Nov. 30. She resides at Rosewood Rehab Center, 8 Rose St., Grafton, W.Va., 26354. She is the founder of Caring People Ministry.

Mary Smith celebrated her birthday Nov. 5.

Brenda Cavender will celebrate a birthday Nov. 16.

Nov. 17 marks the birthday of Richard Harbaugh.

Shirley Hughes will be a celebrant Nov. 20, and Shirley Williams will celebrate on Nov. 19.

Sympathy extended

Sympathy is extended to George and Valerie Spencer on the passing of his mother, Evelyn Spencer, on Oct. 20. She lived in Canonsburg. George and Valerie operate Flatrock Market on Route 40, Markleysburg.

Congratulations

A big round of applause goes to Emily Frazee, daughter of Gina and Ron Frazee of Markleysburg, who received the Extra Effort Award from the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Educational Council.

She is an eighth-grade student at A.J. McMullen School. The award recognizes an eighth-grade student who demonstrates qualities and principles that characterize the all-around student.

Also impressive is that to receive this award, the entire A.J. McMullen faculty voted for Emily.

Craft show

A craft show, flea market and vendor show, sponsored by the Ladies Guild of St. Joan of Arc Church, Route 40, near Fort Necessity, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
