The Farm Service Agency (FSA) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for Fayette and Greene counties has announced elections are being held for FSA committee members. Ballots have been mailed to eligible voters and should be returned by mail or to the local FSA offices by Dec. 6.

They are responsible for communication with the USDA to ensure that national programs are adapted to fit local needs. County committees are responsible for making decisions on issues, including commodity loans and payments, conservation programs, disaster assistance programs and emergency programs.Farmers and ranchers who participate in FSA programs are eligible to vote. If they have not received a ballot, one will be provided by the local USDA service center. New county committee members will assume their role Jan. 1.
