0005983671-01-1.jpg 0005983671-01-2.jpg Sophia Kauchuk, 92 years, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2010 in Lafayette M a n o r Nursing H o m e, Uniontown. She was b o r n o n January 27, 1918 i n Oliver Three, Pennsylvania beloved daughter of Michael K a u c h u k a n d M a r y (Vukasovich) Kauchuk.
Sophia was a member of Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Uniontown.
For many years Sophia was a Stenographer and Clerical Administrator for the government and had been employed with 911th Air Force Reserve Base in Moon Township, Secretary of Base Commander Col. Robin Olds, Executive Secretary of Civil Engineers and Civilian Personnel.
After retirement, she also worked at DeFazio Insurance Company.
Affectionately known to her family as “Aunt Do Do”, she devoted her time to her family, especially in the care of her brothers and sisters.
She loved crafts and lovingly created many beautiful keepsakes, perfect in every way!
Her Parents, four Brothers, Michael, Nicholas, Joseph and John Kauchuk, and Sisters, Anna Kauchuk Zaksek and Mary Kauchuk, preceded her in death. Mary, who died recently on September 6, was not only ner sister but also her “best friend”.
Left to cherish her memory are many lovng Nieces and Nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 N o r t h Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pennsylvania today (Monday, November 22) until 10 a.m. when the Panachida Service will be held
A Divine Liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, Uniontown, with Rev. Father Ronald P. Larko as Celebrant.
Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum at Mount Macrina Cemetery.
Visitation was also held on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
The Parastas Service was held Sunday evening at 8 p.m.
