Masontown police dog sniffs out drugs
MASONTOWN – Masontown police said they will file multiple charges against a Masontown man after they found a stash of drugs and cash in the man’s vehicle Sept. 24. K-9 Officer Michael Yeager said the incident occurred while he and another borough officer were on routine patrol.
Yeager said that officers spotted what appeared to be a drug sale between two vehicles at a location in the borough.
He said that officers were able to stop the suspect’s vehicle, and police dog Brony was deployed to patrol the exterior of the vehicle.
“As soon as he (the suspect) saw Brony, he said he had drugs in the car and we could search,” Yeager said. “He gave them up real quick.”
Yeager said police found 2.5 ounces of marijuana in three separate plastic bags tucked underneath the passenger seat of the car.
Additionally, Yeager said that he found drug paraphernalia and $165 inside the vehicle.
Charges for possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia will be filed before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham.
The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending the formalization of charges.
Brony has been working in Masontown since May.
