Steelers’ Essex, Hoke to miss Ravens game

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Steelers right guard Trai Essex will miss a second successive game due to an ankle injury and will be replaced again by Doug Legursky, a former undrafted free agent. Neither Essex (sprained left ankle) nor backup nose tackle Chris Hoke (sprained right knee) practiced for the third day in a row Friday and were ruled out of Sunday’s AFC North game against Baltimore. Legursky made his first NFL start last weekend when the Steelers beat Tampa Bay 38-13.

Quarterback Dennis Dixon previously was ruled out with a knee injury that could sideline him another two weeks to a month. Dixon, injured Sept. 19 against Tennessee, possibly could go on the injured reserve list when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s four-game suspension ends next week.
