Gas industry job expo planned Friday
WAYNESBURG – Job seekers interested in careers in the natural gas industry are being invited to attend the second annual Tri-County Oil, Gas & Coal Employment Expo, which will be held Friday at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Waynesburg. The job fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is free to job seekers and employers.
Sponsored by the Tri-County Oil & Gas Expo committee and the Pennsylvania CareerLinks of Fayette, Greene and Washington counties and the Mon Valley, the employment expo is designed to connect job seekers with employers in the natural gas industry.
The increasing development of natural gas from the Pennsylvania Marcellus shale formation has led to the possibility of providing thousands of jobs across the state for trained workers.
Current and future openings are expected to be located in all southwestern Pennsylvania counties.
Job seekers should bring resumes and dress in interview attire as they may be interviewed on-site for part- or full-time positions. Opportunities are available in a wide range of skilled, unskilled and professional positions, including clerical/office support, engineers, truck drivers and general laborers, among others.
This year’s employment expo follows previous Tri-County Oil & Gas Expo events that have focused on business-to-business partnerships and information about natural gas leasing and drilling, as well as the first employment expo held last year in Washington County.
On Oct. 29, Waynesburg University will host the Tri-County Expo Workforce Education Summit, “Marcellus Shale Workforce Education Opportunities and Challenges,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The summit will focus on identifying the education and training opportunities essential for careers in the energy industry.
The Tri-County Oil & Gas Expo committee includes representatives from Community Bank, the Greene and Washington county commissioners, the Waynesburg Keystone Innovation Zone, Admiral Well Service, Direct Results/GreeneSaver, Laick Design, the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association, the Fayette-Washington Keystone Innovation Zone, the Pennsylvania CareerLinks of Fayette, Greene and Washington counties and the Mon Valley, Southwest Training Services Inc., the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence, the Washington Greene County Job Training Agency Inc., the Westmoreland/Fayette Workforce Investment Board and state Rep.
