NAACP banquet set The Fayette County NAACP will hold its 21st Human Rights Banquet on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association’s Hea d quarters & Christian Ce n ter on Route 21, at the Duck Hollow intersection, in South Union Township.

There will be a reception at 4:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at 5 p.m. The theme is “NAACP: Still Young at 101.” The keynote speaker will be Jack E. Stoner, a business entrepreneur and native of Fayette City. For more information, call the NAACP at 724-430-0771.

Member appointed

Fairchance Borough council appointed Marcia Goisse to serve the unexpired term of former council President Richard Pukl, who resigned earlier this month.

Council accepted letters of interest from residents wishing fill the position and voted to appoint Giosse at a special meeting on Sept. 15.

Following Pukl’s resignation, Howard McGhee, who had been vice president, became president and Councilman Robert Ellsworth was appointed vice president.

Halloween times set

West Brownsville Borough has scheduled Halloween trick or treat from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 for residents in the borough.
