CALIFORNIA – A 20-year-old Waynesboro man is facing multiple charges after he accidentally shot a California University student at a fraternity house early Sunday, police said. California police Officer Richard Encapera said Raylynn Porco, 19, of Pittsburgh was visiting the TKE Fraternity House at 334 Second St. shortly after midnight when she was struck by a round from a shotgun on the left side of her body.

Encapera said Porco suffered minor injuries and was treated at the California University nurses station following the incident.

According to Encapera, Dustin Ryan Fuller was charged with recklessly endangering another person, tampering with physical evidence and underage drinking.

Encapera said that police filed the charges after they determined Fuller fired the shotgun in an upstairs bedroom of the frat house resulting in the injuries to Porco.

He said that Fuller accidentally fired the round through the floor while examining a new gun owned by a friend.

The round traveled through the floor and struck Porco while she was in the kitchen of the residence.

Porco told police that she was attending a party at the residence when she heard the shotgun blast and then felt a burning sensation on her left side and realized she had been struck by the gunfire, Encapera said.

He noted that fraternity members quickly secured the weapon until police arrival.

Encapera said Fuller was released without bond following his arraignment on charges in the incident early Sunday.
