ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY announces will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Historic Fells Methodist Church. Speaker is Franklin LaCava, who will present a program on the explosion of the Sept. 9, 1905, Rand Powder Mill at Fairchance. Refreshments will be provided, and the public is invited to attend. MASONTOWN COMMUNITY KITCHEN meal will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave., Masontown. Menu includes barbecue pork sandwiches, macaroni salad, Panera Breads and peaches for dessert. Donations are accepted and are used for future meals.
CONNELLSVILLE AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gibson House on West Patterson Avenue in Connellsville. Speaker is Lucy King, proprietor of the Connellsville Bed and Breakfast and the La Boheme. She will speak on Bohemian glass. Light refreshments will be served. Visitors and new members are welcome.
EAST END CONCERNED CITIZENS GROUP will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the community room of the East End Community Center. This is a combined meeting with the Gallatin Avenue and Lafayette neighborhoods. Program is the Uniontown Weed and Seed Program, a new law enforcement initiative.
HOPWOOD VILLAGE PROJECT will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the South Union Township Municipal Building. All members and new members are encouraged to attend. Members are to note the change of date of this meeting.
MASONTOWN will hold its Halloween parade Oct. 30 beginning at 6 p.m. on Main Street and concluding at German-Masontown Park. Costume judging, hayrides, a bon fire, treat bags and a disc jockey will provide music. Decorated pumpkins or scarecrow will be judged. For more information, call Brian Coll at 724-583-9883.
CPR AND DEFIBRILLATOR CLASSES will be taught Oct. 23 in Greene County. Bob Schiffbauer, clinical manager of Southwest Regional Medical Center’s Cardiology Department, will be the instructor. It is sponsored by the United Methodist Women and funded by the Greene County Memorial Hospital. Participants may attend either or both trainings at no cost. Registration must be made by Saturday by calling the church office at 724-966-7123.
