State police probe false reports case

By Josh Krysak 1 min read

State police are conducting an investigation after they said a McClellandtown woman lied to them about a home invasion at her residence earlier this month. Trooper Kiprian Yarosh said the incident occurred around 2 p.m. Oct. 18 when the 38-year-old woman called Fayette County 911 and reported that an unknown man came to her home and knocked on the front door.

The woman told investigators that the man forced his way into her home, where they engaged in a physical altercation, Yarosh said.

He said the woman told police that the man then grabbed a kitchen knife and began to cut off the pants she was wearing while holding her on the floor, Yarosh said. She told police she was able to fight off the attacker and flee to a neighbor’s home. She said the man ran into a wooded area.

Yarosh said that through the course of their investigation, police determined that the incident never occurred.

Following the police investigation, Yarosh said the woman recanted her story and admitted that she had fabricated the encounter because she was worried that her boyfriend would be upset with her because her ex-husband had come to her residence.
