Edwin J. “Ed” Randall

0005932023-01-1.jpg Edwin J. “Ed” Randall, 82, of Dickerson Run, formerly of Connellsville, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 30, 2010 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born February 27, 1928, in Hallstead, PA, a son of the late John Randall and Thelma Randall Watkins.

Ed was a veteran of WW II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the uprising in the Dominican Republic in 1965. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1944-46 and then joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and retired in 1969 with 23 years of service with the rank of Sergeant Major. After retiring from the military, Ed was an agent for Home Security Insurance Co. and then worked as manager of the sporting goods department for Kmart both in Fayetteville, NC. Ed moved to Connellsville in 1973 where he worked as an area supervisor for Kentucky Fried Chicken and then as manager of Duke’s Lounge and Restaurant in Connellsville until his retirement in 1985. Ed was a Life Member of the Connellsville BPO Elks 503 where he served as Trustee, Esquire, and Chairman of the House Committee. Ed was also a life member of the Connellsville VFW 21.

Ed is survived by his wife, Norma Lee Randall; his son, Robert Randall and his wife, Rose; grandchild, Lindy Balaam; and one great-grand-child, Bobby-Lee Balaam of Perth Australia; his daughter, Linda Randall of Monroeville; his step daughters: Janet Corteal of Connellsville and Glenda Statts of Aliquippa, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Randall, his second wife, Rose M. Virgile Randall, a son, John E. Randall, a grandchild, Kylie Balaam, his sisters, Helen Cudo, Lillian Randall, Marion Stockholm, Getty Grover, and Rosemary Strohl, and his brothers, Carl, Charles, Kenneth, and John Randall.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 PM in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where a Funeral Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 10 AM, with Rev. Terry Hercik officiating.

A committal service and entombment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Connellsville VFW, American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard.

The Connellsville Elks 503 will conduct a service Friday at 7:30 PM in the funeral home.
