Police find marijuana lab inside home
A Uniontown couple is facing multiple charges after police said they found a marijuana-growing lab inside their home Saturday evening. Uniontown police Officer Jamie L. Holland said Kyle Nolan Kugel, 28, and Martha R. Miller, 27, both of 155 Walnut St., are each facing charges of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found seven large marijuana plants inside their home.
Holland said police found the grow lab while conducting a search at the couple’s home in an attempt to locate Kugel in an unrelated incident.
Holland said he attempted to stop a vehicle driven by a man, later identified as Kugel, near the intersection of Lenox Street and North Gallatin Avenue around 4 p.m.
Holland said Kugel fled from police, and during a short, high-speed pursuit, nearly rammed a police vehicle being driven by Uniontown K-9 Officer Michael C. Garrow Sr.
Holland said the chase continued until Kugel drove his car into a field and then a wooded area before fleeing on foot.
Holland said he chased Kugel on foot but was unable to locate him.
After investigating the incident, police were able to identify Kugel as the driver of the car and subsequently responded to his residence in an attempt to locate him, Holland said.
Miller gave police permission to search the couple’s home, and officers found the grow operation in a large closet inside the residence, Holland said.
A warrant has been issued for Kugel’s arrest on the drug charges, as well as additional charges from the chase, including fleeing and eluding police and recklessly endangering another person. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-430-2929.
Miller was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $10,000 straight cash bond following her arraignment.
A preliminary hearing for Miller will be held at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.
