Dorothy H. Manzella
Dorothy H. Manzella, 78 of Connellsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. She was born May 1, 1932 in Leisenring, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Vargo) Sholtis.
Dorothy was a member of St. Rita R.C. Church and its Christian Mothers.
She retired from Connellsville Area School System where she was employed in the cafeteria for 18 years. Prior to that, she also was employed by Firestone Tire and Hagan Ice Cream Co. as a bookkeeper for both.
Dorothy enjoyed dining out with her husband and friends and playing cards.
She is survived by her loving Husband of 57 years, Nick R. Manzella; her loving Children: Richard “Nicky” Manzella and wife Melissa of Center Township and Danette Ross and husband Richard of Connellsville; Grandchildren: Kristin Ross and Melissa Manzella; Step Grandchildren: Ashley Schafer and J.D. Schafer; a Brother William Sholtis and wife Rose of Elyria, Ohio; a Sister Anne Marie Nudo of Uniontown; several nieces; nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by an infant Son Nicholas Manzella, a Brother Ted Sholtis and a Sister Mildred Szepesi.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 South First Street West Side Connellsville.
A Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rita R. C. Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph E. Bonafed as Celebrant.
St. Rita Christian Mothers will hold a ritual at 3 p.m. this afternoon in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. Rita Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to one’s favorite charity.
