Man charged in road rage incident
A Uniontown man is facing multiple charges after he alleged fired a handgun at a West Virginia man in an alleged road rage incident in Washington County. State police said Blair J. George Jr., 26, is facing charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person after he fired three rounds from a 9 mm handgun at Chad Schlag of Wheeling.
The incident occurred on Interstate 70 in Buffalo Township at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, state police said.
According to police, Schlag and George got into a road rage incident while traveling west on I-70. At some point, both men pulled their vehicles to the side of the road. Police said George then pointed a handgun out the window of his pickup truck and fired as many as three rounds at Schlag and passenger Chris Marling of Martins Ferry, Ohio, before fleeing in the pickup truck.
Police said a chase then ensued between Schlag and George covering nearly 40 miles, ending when police were able to intervene and stop George’s vehicle on Interstate 79 in Amwell Township.
Police said George was taken into custody without incident.
A 9 mm handgun was found inside George’s vehicle.
It was not clear what started the incident.
