Connellsville girls blank Albert Gallatin
YORK RUN – The Lady Falcons got goals from seven different players as Connellsville defeated Albert Gallatin, 11-0, in a Section 1-AAA contest on Wednesday. “We needed a game like this to keep our confidence up,” said Connellsville head coach Jeff Puskar.
Connellsville (2-4, 1-3) wasted no time jumping out to an early lead. Ashley McCutcheon scored the first goal at the 31:49 mark, and Allison Panzella widened the gap with a goal of her own 30 seconds later.
Panzella added her second goal of the match with 24 minutes remaining and Ashton Grimm found the back of the net twice for the Lady Falcons. Michaela Dolde scored with eight minutes left in the half, and the Falcons enjoyed a comfortable 6-0 lead at halftime.
Connellsville continued its dominance in the second half. Ashton Grimm had a breakaway and completed her hat trick two minutes into the second half and the Lady Falcons also got goals from Jessica White, Kensey Durst, Jessica Rosensteel, and McCutcheon.
The Lady Falcons dominated possession of the ball, and held Albert Gallatin (0-7, 0-3) without a shot on goal.
“We are still adjusting to the speed and style in this section. We played as a team tonight and got a win,” said Puskar. “I have to hand it to AG, they never quit.”
Albert Gallatin head coach Rick Hansen says he is looking at more than the score this season.
“They are a great bunch of ladies,” said Hansen. “I look for attitude and effort and I saw them both tonight.”
Hansen also noted that he is seeing improvements in his team.
“Every game we try to find positives and fix our mistakes. We are working hard on defense and we are getting better.”
Connellsville looks to build on its victory when the Lady Falcons host Laurel Highlands Monday, while Albert Gallatin plays Hempfield at home.
