Leaf compost available Leaf compost from the city’s Leaf Collection Program is now available for pick up at the Connellsville Municipal Authority plant located on West Fayette Street and the Connellsville Street Department garage located on Arch Street.
Connellsville City street foreman Vernon Ohler said that liability forms must be obtained and signed prior to pickup. The forms are available at the city municipal building or at the street department garage.
Anyone with questions or to set up a loading time should call Ohler at 724-628-2020, ext. 301.
Military names sought
The War and Veterans Inc. committee of Fayette County is seeking the names of military men and women from southwestern Pennsylvania who wish to be honored during a ceremony scheduled for Oct. 21 in Uniontown.
Committee member and event organizer Joe T. Joseph said veterans may submit their own names or family members and friends may submit names of veterans.
The name, address, contact phone number, branch of service, rank and destination of military men and women to be honored are needed.
The “Welcome Home Veterans” ceremony will begin with a parade in Uniontown at 3 p.m. and will end with a program and dinner at the North Union Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8543 on Edison Boulevard. The dinner is set to begin at 5 p.m.
Dinner for the veterans and their family members and friends will be free; however, people are asked to pre-register.

Story hour set
The Brownsville Free Public Library will be holding Story Hour at 6 p.m. every Thursday from Oct. 7 to Nov. 18. Debi Lepponi, the library’s new children’s program director, will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. every Thursday to assist children and their families.
“The library has purchased many exciting juvenile books, including the series of ‘Choose Your Own Adventures.’ We look forward to making your child’s experience at the library fun and exciting,” according to a library spokesman.
