Harford “Dale” Matthews
Harford “Dale” Matthews, age 84, of Mt. Braddock, Pa., passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday morning, September 23, 2010 in his home. He was born February 7, 1926 in Mt. Braddock, Pa., the son of the late Walter Matthews Sr. and Mary Ellen Welsh Matthews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Ted Matthews and Harry Matthews who passed as a young child.
He was a United States Veteran serving in the Navy. Dale was retired from Anchor Hocking where he was a mechanic.
He was a member of the Hill Top Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years who was the love of his life and best friend, Gail Ileen Downs Matthews, they were married on January 21, 1953; three brothers: Walter Matthews and wife Shirley of Mt. Independence, Pa., Emmett Matthews and wife Mary Jane of Mt. Braddock, Pa. and Russ Matthews of Mt. Independence, Pa.; several loving nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Wanda Matthews of Mt. Independence, Pa.; brother and sister in law, James and Jean Martin of Dunbar, Pa.; brother-in-law Hank Cole of Clairton, Pa.; other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday morning until 11 am the Hour of Service with Pastor Bob Williams officiating.
Interment follows in Mt Auburn Cemetery, Dunbar, Pa.
Military Honors will be accorded at graveside.
