Items for troops collected Friday

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

Items for troops serving overseas will be collected from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Connellsville Walmart, located at 1450 Morrell Ave. in Dunbar Township. The War and Veterans Inc. committee is sponsoring the collection drive, and will be on site throughout the day.

Committee member Joe T. Joseph said a list of items the troops need will be available if people wish to purchase the items themselves. Included on the list are items such as toiletries, easy-to-prepare food items and stationery.

Joseph said people may also donate money to purchase needed items and help pay for postage to send the care packages overseas.

Names and addresses of members of the military currently serving overseas, and donations for care packages, can be mailed to 322 Dixon Boulevard, Uniontown, Pa., 15401. Checks should be made payable to War and Veterans.

Joseph said people wishing to volunteer with War and Veterans and help collect items Friday are also needed.

For more information, call Joseph at 724-438-8688.
