Robert E. Nevel
Robert E. Nevel, age 85 of Dawson, Pa. passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010. He was born January 30, 1925 in St. Petersburg, Pa., the son of the late Harold E. and Margaret I. Ketner Nevel.
Robert was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa., a life time member of Perryopolis VFW Gold Star Post 7023 and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He retired from the B & O Railroad as an Engineer after 36 years of service. He was also a proud veteran of WWII serving with the Marines.
He is survived by one Son, Lawrence Nevel and wife Anne of Alexandria, Va.; two Granddaughters: Natasha and Lauren Nevel; the following sisters and brothers: Barbie Grossman, Georgie Landers, Helen Raybuck, Bernice McCoy, Betty Davenport, Paul Nevel and Denton “Pete” Nevel, all of Northern Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Nevel and one sister Phyllis Cothermen.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR – LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa. today (Thursday) from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
The Rev. Father Robert Halus will celebrate. A Parastas Service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
Interment in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perryopolis, Pa.
Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by VFW Gold Star Post 7023 and the American Legion 725 of Perryopolis, Pa.
