Woman faces gun charges

By The 1 min read

A Lemont Furnace woman is facing multiple charges after she fired a gun inside a home in Uniontown on Monday. Uniontown police Officer Jennifer Field said Melody Marie Ansell, 31, was charged with recklessly endangering another person and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. Field said the incident occurred shortly before noon at an apartment on East Main Street.

According to Field, Adam Piwowar entered his apartment and found Ansell in the bathtub holding a handgun to her head and threatening to shoot herself.

Field said that Piwowar was able to wrest the gun from her and then pin her on the floor until police arrived. Field said that during the scuffle, Ansell fired a single round from the weapon, but noted that no one was injured as a result.

Police took Ansell into custody without incident.

Police did not indicate how Piwowar and Ansell are connected.

She was taken to Highlands Hospital in Connellsville following the incident.
