Helen Milan Mayers
Helen Milan Mayers, 89, of Blainesburg, Pennsylvania d i e d o n Saturday, April 9, 2011 at h o m e with h e r son a n d daughter-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Phillips Mayers, by her side.
Born t h e d a u g h t e r of Joseph and Goldie (Bubba) Cain Milan of Rowes Run, Pennsylvania, Helen was the oldest of ten children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Edwin James ‘SKUZZ’ Mayers and four siblings.
She is survived by her son Gerald, loving daughter-in-law Barbara, five siblings and many nieces and nephews. Her companion and friend was her niece, Helen (Lucy) Koon.
A special thanks to the Maryland Mayers’ for all the love and support they have shown Helen for so many years. Also Reverend Edward Truitt has been a comfort to her during her time of need.
She was affectionately known by many non-relatives as ‘Aunt Helen’. She also was often called the ‘Butterfly Lady’ for the butterfly she wore in her hair.
Helen enjoyed bus trips, camping, Lancaster County, cooking and baking. She was always ready to help someone in need.
GOD has called Helen to Heaven because He needed a new pie maker.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pennsylvania on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 until 10 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Kent Lighthouse officiating.
