Cell tower broken into
?Southwestern Regional Police are searching for the public’s help in finding out who’s breaking into a cellphone tower in Long Branch, warning that the break-ins pose a serious danger to the alleged criminals.
Chief John Hartman said the tower on Cherry Lane has been broken into twice — on April 5 and on Monday — and there have been four unauthorized entrances since the beginning of the month.
Hartman said the tower is on a federally protected area and is classified as a “radio frequency environment area” where radio frequencies are released.
“The area likewise maintains several high-voltage electrical lines which makes unauthorized access into the area extremely dangerous to the perpetrators,” Hartman said.
Hartman said someone previously cut the cyclone fence surrounding the perimeter, rolled it back and broke into five equipment cabinets on the property.
The equipment damaged belongs to Crown Castle International in Texas and Cricket Communications in New Mexico
