Vivian Dolores (Rider) Ashton, age 82, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2011 with her family at her side.

She was born on August 16, 1928 in Balsinger, PA. She was the daughter of the late Ebert and Olive (Boger) Rider.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Ashton Jr. and two brothers, Duane and Howard Rider.

Vivian was a member of Central Christian Church in Uniontown, PA. Vivian graduated from South Union High School in 1946, and served on the reunion committee for many years. She was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary at the Blind Association for 7 ½ years.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Diana L. Runnion and husband, Martin of Marietta, GA, William E. Ashton and wife Lori of Hopwood, PA, Kenneth A. Ashton and special friend, Nikki of Hopwood, PA and Brenda L. Stipanovich and husband, Ronald of Uniontown, PA.; three brothers: Glenn Rider of Hillsborough, N.C., Earl Rider of Baltimore, MD. and Marlin Rider of Streetsboro, OH.; one sister, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Russo of Streetsboro, OH.; grandchildren: Steven McKnight, Scott McKnight, William Ashton, Kenny Ashton, Kathryn Ashton, Kayla Ashton, Laura Ashton, Lisa Swecker, Alex Ashton, Emily Swecker, Benjamin Ashton, and Claire Ashton; Vivian was also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, today, April 13, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 7 to 9 PM, and Thursday, April 14, 2011 until 11 AM, the hour of service with Rev. Art Mace officiating.

Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.
