Josephine J. (Fiffick) Smorada

Josephine J. (Fiffick) Smorada, age 94, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Mount Macrina Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on January 16, 1917 in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of the late Andrew M. and Johanna (Franchok) Fiffick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul S. Smorada in 1992, brothers: infant John Fiffick, Steven Fiffick, Andrew Fiffick, Rev. Father John Fiffick, Joseph Fiffick, and Charles Fiffick and sisters: Mary Kurta, Anna Kurta, and Pauline Sroka.

Josephine was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, and retired from Berkowitz Shirt Factory, where she worked as a Seamstress for many years.

She was devoted to her family and cherished the good times and unforgettable memories shared with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Having fun with her special friends at Eat’N’Park, especially Kim and Jo, meant the world to her.

She loved all of her caregivers at Mount Macrina Manor, especially John, Theresa, Danielle, Bob, Patty, Krissey, Sally, Brittany, Natasha, Nellie, Nicole, Brittany, and all others who gave her such wonderful and compassionate care. We also thank Bob for his humor, greatly lifting our spirits.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Paulette Smorada, with whom she made her home; and Marlene Krevinko and her husband Ted of Uniontown, Pa.; three grandchildren:Christine Silver and husband Adam of Stafford, Va.; Eugene Krevinko and wife Veronica of Rockville, Md.; an d Renee Krevinko of Norristown, Pa.; two great grandchildren, Eric and E m ily Silver; a sister, Helen Fiffick, of Uniontown, Pa.; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kelly, Kathryn Molchan, and Eleanor Kania and her husband William; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, April 24, from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Tuesday, April 26, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary (Nativity Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
