Fayette Street traffic restriction coming soon

By The 1 min read

Traffic on Fayette Street in Uniontown will be restricted to one lane for two or three weeks beginning May 9 for a bridge repair project.

?A contractor will repair the concrete abutment walls and replace the expansion joints in the bridge that carries the street over Redstone Creek, according to the state Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The contractor will work on half of the bridge at a time, requiring single lane closures. Motorists should slow down and drive with caution when entering the work area, PennDOT said.

The bridge is one of 36 scheduled for preservation work in PennDOT’s District 12, which encompasses Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties, said spokesman Jay Ofsanik.

The contractor, Bill Anskis Company Inc. of Elysburg, is doing the work at all of the bridges at a cost of $995,001.
