Florence Rose (Berardi) Petno
Florence Rose (Berardi) Petno, age 94, formerly of Uniontown, Pa. passed away on April 21, 2011 at Emeritus at Stow in Stow, Ohio.
She was born on February 18, 1917 in Buffalo Back, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Bianchi) Berardi.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carl J. Petno, a brother, Carl Berardi and two sisters, Mary Yamarino and Pauline Dinardo.
Florence is survived by two sons: Carl J. Petno, Jr. and wife, Pamela of Bullard, TX and Vincent Petno and wife, Carol Lee of Stow, Ohio; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
‘Phil’ was employed at Connellsville sportswear as seamstress until retiring at age 64.
She was an active member of St. Therese Church, where she served often for the yearly spaghetti dinners. She and her husband Carl, Sr., were among the original volunteer staff of St. Vincent De Paul in Uniontown and served faithfully for many years.
She participated as a Gray Lady at the Uniontown Hospital and was also among the seniors, who ushered for the recent State Theater Performances. She was an avid flower gardener and loved being outdoors. Her pretty smile, happy heart and fun sense of humor blessed the lives of friends and family. She loved to feed her family and others around her table. She had such a wonderful zest for life with amazing energy and work ethic.
Friends will be received in the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 28, 2011 until 9:30 a.m., at which time a Blessing Service will be held followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese de Lisieux Church with MSGR Michael W. Matusak as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
A Parish Wake Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
