Motorcyclist injured in collision

A man suffered serious injuries when the motorcycle he was driving and a car collided in Connellsville Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the unidentified man was thrown from the motorcycle following the crash, which occurred at the intersection of East Crawford Avenue and Robbins Street around 3?p.m.

Rick Adobato, chief of Fayette EMS, said the man suffered serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

The man, according to Adobato, suffered significant injuries to his extremities and head. Internal injuries were also suspected, Adobato said.

Adobato said the driver of the car suffered a minor scratch to his face.

His identity was not immediately released.

Connellsville police are investigating the crash.

Connellsville Fire Department and New Haven Hose Company assisted police at the scene.

No other information was available Tuesday night.
