James I. Fox, Sr.
James I. Fox, Sr., age 88 years of Uniontown, Pa., died on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in the Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born August 10, 1922 in Derry Twp., Westmoreland County, Pa., the son of the late William and Minnie (Reese) Fox.
In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Kirk) Fox in 2008, his brothers, William Fox and Donald Fox and his sister, Marjorie Stein.
Jim was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1940 and Rutgers University in 1949 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and owned and operated the Fox Glass Company in Uniontown for 50 years.
He was a member of the Home Builders Association, Uniontown Kiwanis and past president of Uniontown Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Uniontown Credit Bureau and past president, Caravan 9 Syria Shrine Temple and past president of Greater Uniontown Industrial Fund, Question Club, Uniontown Country Club, Red Cross and the YMCA.
He is survived by two sons: James I. Fox, Jr. and wife, Donna and David K. Fox and wife, Sherrie all of Uniontown; a daughter, Susan E. Fox of Uniontown and three grandchildren: Ira Fox of Uniontown, Heather Fox Katzen-berger and husband, Craig of Cary, N.C. and Meghan Fox of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, J.C.Fox of Connellsville, Pa; his special friend, Agnes Soom and his caretaker / friend, Marcie Sangston.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
The family will receive friends in the Trinity United Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., when a service celebrating Jim’s life will be held with Rev. Michael Orsted officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
