Man injured in Monday accident

CONNELLSVILLE — An unidentified man sustained serious injuries Monday when he was struck by an automobile near the Sheetz convenience store, located at the intersection of West Crawford Avenue and Seventh Street.

Connellsville police Capt. Steve Shaffer said that the identity of the victim and the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident along with the cause of the incident would not be released until today because of the ongoing investigation.

According to emergency responders, the man sustained leg and head injuries in the accident.

He was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following the 2:18 p.m. accident.

In addition to police, Fayette EMS, Connellsville City Fire Department and New Haven Hose Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the accident.
