Man running as independent for magisterial district judge seat

By Amy Revakheraldstandard.Com 1 min read

A Farmington man has filed nomination papers to run as an independent candidate for the magisterial district judge position currently held by Wendy Dennis.

According to Larry Blosser, head of the Fayette County Election Bureau, Douglas Giles filed the necessary number of signatures earlier this month to appear on the Nov. 8 municipal election ballot for the position.

Giles received 106 signatures, Blosser said.

A total of 100 signatures were required to obtain a position on the ballot.

Dennis is seeking re-election for a six-year term.

The district includes the townships of Henry Clay, North Union, Stewart and Wharton and the boroughs of Markleysburg and Ohiopyle.

Blosser said Giles was the only candidate to file as an independent throughout the county for the November election.

The last day for candidates who were nominated at the May 17 municipal primary to withdraw is Aug. 15.

Blosser said Monday that there have been no official withdrawals as of yet.
