Uniontown couple faces eviction following police probe

By Josh Krysakheraldstandard.Com 2 min read

Uniontown police said a Uniontown couple will have to move from their apartment after officers found the residence in deplorable conditions during an investigation at the home Saturday afternoon.

Officer Eric Hanula said police were summoned to an assisted living apartment at 155 N. Gallatin Ave. for a report of illegal drugs inside the residence.

Inside the apartment, Hanula said officers did not find drugs but did find drug paraphernalia and also found that the residence was in disarray and unfit for habitation.

Hanula said that officers found trash and debris on the floors of the home, throughout the kitchen and also found trash stuffed under several of beds.

He said that a man and woman and four children reside at the apartment, including a 6-month-old baby.

The man was the only person at the residence while police were investigating.

Because of the conditions at the apartment, the couple will be evicted, Hanula said.

Charges are pending against the couple following the incident, Hanula said.

Their identities are being withheld pending the formalization of charges.

Fayette County Children and Youth Services were called to the residence and the children were placed in protective custody with a family member in Dunbar, Hanula said.
